Wound infection is a major challenge for the patients. Prevention of wound infection is priority, but this is not always possible. Due to this, it is very important to timely detect the signs and symptoms of wound infection.

Chronic wounds can lead to severe medical problems, such as patient getting into septic shock stage or losing the body parts. One potential obstacle physicians are faced with when treating chronic wounds is bacterial infections, as it avails easy access for bacteria, and further complicate the infection. It is extremely important to have a method that proactively detects the potential bacterial infections. We report within same day (under 24 hrs of turn around time (TAT).

AT CDL, we offer QPCR (polymerase chain reaction) based panel to detect bacterial infection of chronic wounds. QPCR is highly advantageous over traditional culture methods. Culture based methods are not very precise and accurate with its sensitivity/specificity on detection, when multiple different strains of bacteria are present.

Increased sensitivity and detection: In cases of Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus spp., Klebsiella pneumoniae, Morganella morganii, PCR detected twice of positive samples than culture methods.
